Doing Business in the Philippines
The Philippines has emerged as a rising tiger economy. The country’s growth rate, investment and trade figures have been on an upward rise. In May 2016, the country elected a new President, who has vowed to continue the sound macroeconomic policies currently in place, initiate the necessary tax reforms to lower the burden of taxation, and adopt policies to further improve the ease in doing business in the country. Indeed, there has never been a more opportune time to explore doing business in the Philippines.
This seminar aims to provide updates on the Philippine economy and selected legal topics in doing business in the Philippines. With this seminar, the speakers hope to spark your interest in investing in the Philippines and learning more about the country.

講演者：　 Mr. Arnel M. Sanchez

First Secretary and Consul Head of the Economic Section at the Embassy of the Philippines
Mr. Sanchez is a Foreign Officer at the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs and is currently serving as Consul and Head of the Economic Section of the Embassy of the Philippines in Tokyo. He has gained considerable experience in international trade and investment law as a Special Assistant in the Department of Foreign Affairs for eleven years, where he advised the Department on legal and policy issues of international economic relations. He also has particular experience in free trade agreement (FTA) negotiations, having represented the Department in several ASEAN FTAs, the Philippines-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (PJEPA) and in the Philippines-EU Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA), as well as in WTO dispute settlement proceedings.

Ms. Poblacion has advised and assisted local and multinational clients on doing business in the Philippines, including pre-establishment, post-incorporation, compliance and corporate housekeeping, dissolution, labor and intellectual property law, among others. She specializes in Philippine corporate law and trademarks law.
Ms. Poblacion graduated cum laude and salutatorian from the University of the Philippines, College of Law, and placed sixth in the 2010 Philippine Bar examinations. She has worked for Poblador Bautista & Reyes Law Offices, a Philippine law firm, and is presently an attorney at the Kuroda Law Offices.
